STEPS TO TAKE WHEN SOMEONE DIES

When someone close to you dies, it can be a very difficult time and the formalities may seem daunting.  We've put together this simple step-by-step guide, which links to information and resources that you may find helpful.

 

1.  Notify the family doctor immediately.

2.  Contact a funeral director and begin making funeral arrangements.

3.  Locate the Will and check for any funeral or memorial requests.

     If there is no Will, the estate will be dealt with under the laws of Intestacy.

4.  Contact the Registry Office where the death occurred to make an 
     appointment to register the death.

     This should be done within 5 days of the death.

5.   Ensure any property that is left empty is secure and insured.


6.   Collect the deceased’s personal papers.
